kanpeki

Yesterday was one of the best Fridays I’ve ever had, despite the (numerous) shortcomings of my rather horrendous driving.

I’d been given the privilege of taking the car on my own yesterday. Obviously, my first reaction was “Yesssssssaaaa!!!” mainly due to the illusions of freedom and all that crap. I’ve been wanting to at least have some level of confidence in my own driving since I didn’t have a shred of it before, I suppose to an extent where I was even terrified of it. It was just great to get over it, you know? Yes yes, この カーチャンは is quite abit of a worrier and don’t think she’ll overcome it so easily since every day is unpredictable as the weather. =D

Ahem. Anyway I still feel that driving is liable to give people heart attacks the moment they stop paying attention or their senses start to dull while they’re behind the wheel, cause it is very possible that they may be under another’s wheel if they’re in some horrific accident. *nodnods* So with that in mind, I thought I had made it a point to myself to be careful. Still, still, I made a number of mistakes that were rather silly and unsafe and gave myself a good wake-up call.

第一: I turned too late at a corner and nearly hit the barrier, and to make things worse I accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes.

outcome: I slammed my brakes in time. *phewwwww*

第二: I nearly scraped another car while trying to park @ Sunway Medical. Shit scary.

outcome: A really nice security guy rescued me from my plight by directing me on how to get out without any casualties and reposition myself to be able to park properly. どもありがとう!

And that ends the escapade on getting to uni. Met up with Calvin to go for the MonGa meeting where most of the time we were pretty much crapping about the next issue, which is on technology. ふわふわ! 楽しいだぜ!

After that, we went to the foyer intending to up the count of the people going to lunch with us and to our dismay most of the engineering kids were predisposed with other matters, cutting down the count instead; c2 was out with leech and her friends to Pyramid, ty had to discuss his upcoming project, juice had class I think. So it ended up with me, Calvin and Daniel, much to Calvin’s displeasure. I won’t say why, cause I have no clear idea either. Went to Orange, and saw yk+penny+jon+alex+ah yong (I think, he’s their junior who has a personality similar to Alvin’s according to reports from Penny and yk) heading to Medan cause there was no more space. Oh well, it’d be nice if they’d join us since I hadn’t had lunch with them (especially Penpen jiejie XD) in awhile. It wasn’t until zz came along and spotted us that I was thinking “ha-ha, thank goodness for zz?” since the table was in an awkward silence for quite awhile. At least zz brought along good company =D cause soon after Alvin and Jordan joined us from lunch @ Medan to crap. hehehehe. You cannot believe what good entertainment these people make.

Ty has this digital camera magazine which has quite abit of eye candy and makes good reading material, called Digital Camera. I’m not just giving it high regard for the beauty of the pictures, which are the main feature, but the written articles are good too. At least it kept my interest despite the rather technical terms cause I was just amused at how these photographers viewed the world through their lenses and being able to see things that most people wouldn’t bother thinking about. The subjects of the pictures are very pretty, I like that one of a cat’s tongue and a tiger in the water rushing for a piece of meat, it really captures the essence of the picture. The Photoshop tweaks for photos were also an eye-opener for me since I think I’ll be needing it for tampering with cacated photos people take in the future. XD

The main reason I went to uni on Friday was simply because I had a replacement lecture, and to top it off I have another 2-hour lecture on the following Monday instead of the regular 1-hour cause even I think we’re lagging quite abit. Mr Tham sure takes his time, but his lectures are very amusing, he’s addressing us as ‘engineers’ instead of those IT nerds. Okay, not that he discriminates, just that I feel this is rather an E&E thing. Who cares, it’s good fun. I’m glad I’m taking it and that he’s a good lecturer XD Okay, so what was he talking about, something about pure sine waves and Fourier series, that a middle C on a piano is 250Hz, the maximum frequency a human can create from their soundboxes is about 34kHz and 64kbps as the transmission speed on regular PSTN and how it came about, which I think it’s 4k x 2 x 8.. 4k samplings per second, and to be able to get it clearly, at least double the maximum frequency, and having 8 bits per sampling… something like that. I should have written it down. I’m not a very good student, but I’m trying. XD

After class, went to pick up ai-chan.

第三: I nearly turned into the wrong road where the oncoming traffic was in the opposing direction.

outcome: Since it was still red on the other side, thank the frigging gods. In trying to salvage the situation, I nearly hit the divider but again, nothing happened.

We reached 1u in one piece, and parking this time was a breeze, albeit the rather crooked positioning. At least I learned something today. *nodnods* but I still have a loooooooong way to go. Went to Italiannies for an early dinner, ai-chan was starving since she slept through dinner yesterday. Between us we stuffed ourselves with carbonara, ice lemon tea and sangria (i.e. some alcoholic drink which ai-chan thinks is vodka, strawberries, oranges and soda) which was really good. Most of the time we were just talking rubbish, and we saw two people whom we’ve never met since high school working there too, talk about coincidences. Surprise, surprise, the girl is in Monash now but I never seem to see her. Must be the timetables and stuff. *shrugs*

tip: do NOT take a good swig of an alcoholic drink (i.e. sangria) and follow up immediately with a non-alcoholic beverage (i.e. ice lemon tea), it tastes like crap.

It was a on-the-spot decision to watch Click. It’s like fast-forwarding the Ghost of the Christmas Past, Present and Future with the pun intended. But yeah Adam Sandler trademark still sticks throughout the show, like all that profanity and the ‘fart-in-your-face’ kinda insolence which can get really funny. And somehow, this show has a reminiscent Disney moral-at-the-end-of-the-show thing, almost like their animated version of Charles Dickens’ telling.

For some strange reason after the show, when we were browsing bookstores and the CD stores the main topic was 中島美嘉 (also the actress who plays and sings as Nana in the TV series and is the model for Kate’s Deep Eyes) damn she sure looks like the manga version, skinny, lethargic and half-starved. I just like her character. =D
