back in Melb
Being back in Melbourne is certainly quite the experience.
I definitely didn't expect the weather to be 18C, for one. I thought it would be a sweltering 30+C but that wasn't to be. And so, I didn't bring any really thick jacket. Fingers were frozen off and that just kinda led my entire self to feel cold.
Got a temp number, got the 10x 2-hour ticket at Southern Cross, then made my way to the Monash Uni @ Clayton. Ah, I still remember how to get there on a Zone 1 ticket. Train to Huntingdale, then a bus to Monash. Easy-peasy =3
Smelling the air, seeing the Menzies in the distance, the cold air, the students and their conversations, walking in the uni grounds (not that I studied there, but just the feel of it) made me think of the one year that I spent here. So many things happened that changed me for the better, opened my eyes to so many things, met so many friends and experienced life on the Aussie side of things - at least that was the way I saw it.
Most nostalgia is good, but there were bittersweet parts of it too. Some part of it reminded me of Gipps. Of which I intend to visit during the short time that I have here before the rest of the entourage arrive.
Anyway.
Met my beloved mentor at the bus stop 703, and from there we walked to her place. A good 10-min walk with my hands kinda hurting from carrying the blasted duffel bag all day (good practice and it kept me warm) and her place is awesome! Finally managed to see the Harry Potter room for myself, and the kitchen, and the couch, and her pretty bedroom with the awesome aircond-heater thingamajiggy =)
Later on went out to dinner with Hiro, Daisy and mentor at this awesome Italian place at Glen Waverley. Very Very VERY good pasta and pizza. The paella looked pretty great too but boy were we stuffed by the time dinner was over. No space to try the delicious looking cakes and desserts out there. Bummer. Next time, maybe? =P
Then the rest of the evening mentor and I spent talking about stuff, people, experiences (shocking and interesting on different occasions), pet peeves (especially concerning people who try to impose things on you) as well as friends and how people and ourselves change as we interact with different people, that kinda thing.
Had alot of good laughs where it concerned the '3 wise men with 3 gifts' -"No I'm not going to do a Virgin Mary" which sent us into peals of laughter (I tell you we've got some kind of chemistry where BS is concerned)
*yawn*
I couldn't sleep on the plane, the seats were practically upright! T___T Was sitting with an elderly couple from Sibu who kept conversing with me in Mandarin - just so you know if you didn't know already, my Mandarin is atrocious. So bad, in fact, that I meant to tell them that I was there for convocation but I didn't know how, so my story twisted into something like I was a 2nd-year international student. Hahahha! I know, abominable.
