item no.15 : over the rainbow

Performed at this mini concert organized by the Mirado music school (the one I go to for piano lessons XD) *takes deep breath* it was a long night of sorts, but it was enjoyable. ^__^ Number one was cause of the numerous practices we had to go through for this night, and thinking of how all these kids (and non-kids) played, how the teachers were practically screaming (not in fury, but in desperation and probably exhaustion) at the ‘trees’~ was entertaining.

Earlier today (bout 1.45pm?) had a complete rehearsal at the angkasapuri auditorium. Went to pick up mei anne and off we went. On reaching, I had no idea where the actual hall was, so had to call sut to save us XD The interior is quite nice actually (on the first floor then taking a left), something you can’t really see from the outside. Thus the saying, ‘can’t judge a book by its cover’. For the most part this time we were all sitting while watching everyone perform. Our turn wasn’t until about 2.45pm, and considering that we were supposed to go home at bout 3pm… XP Watched some other performances I didn’t get to during the normal practices. @__@ Wow there was this….*censored censored so that I can fully blub bout it later XD*

Didn’t really start getting ready till 5.30pm XD such is the nature of the last-minute-ers. Before then was too engrossed in playing Chuzzle, right now my current craze is to download these puzzle games and indulge in them for hours on end. Aanyway. Just put on my ever-for-the-nicer-events long beige jacket (I think it was meant to be a dress but who cares XP), purple top, black pants and heels. Aih, this meianne, suddenly say wanna dress up. Just follow la XD not that I blame her, I don’t get to dress up often anyway.

For the actual event, only reached there at about 6.35pm and kahyin called me cause she was aloone~ when christine came, we went to put on some makeup. Best part was that none of us actually know how to. All we did was just put on lipstick. And some foundation? Hey, give some credit to me for even knowing the terms and what it’s used for! *laughs* we were saved when another teacher came in and helped us. ^___^ thanks so much miss janelle! XD (no, not the DU janelle, another one =P)

My biggest shock of the day had to be seeing reeis there. @__@ and just yesterday we 3 (that’s the idiot trio reeis, aiori and me) were chatting on the phone. (Use your imagination; I’m at ai-chan’s and reeis at hers) reeis was invited by a friend of hers who coincidentally is performing ‘New York, New York’ with sut and a lot *I mean a lot* of other violinists. Good ol’ reeis, clad in black and with her shiney shiney hair XD I guarantee a lot of people would kill to get it (not literally of course, but who knows?)

The first few performances were from the Little Mozarts. Well that’s what they’re called~ XD 子供たちはとってもかわいいです～Especially this mermaid girl (well, she’s supposed to be one) who really knows the meaning of dance. There were the regular mike hoggers too, which I can practically imagine them being the karaoke hoggers when they grow up XD The kids were, literally, raw talent. Which could use some tuning up~ but I can say that it’s a huuuge effort to get them to stand in place and sing and dance. Really really. My dad recalls a funny event during the concert;

The emcee at first introduced them as Little Mozarts, but his pronounciation changed the words from Little Mozerts, then somehow it ended up as Little Lizards. He didn’t do it on purpose, but the kids sure were wild. So I’d say he wasn’t too far off. And your mom and I had a real good laugh at that~

Speaking of the emcee….man was he lame. No houhou, you’re way beyond his league. He kept on spewing this lame stuff that seemed endless. =___= Good thing he’s not a mike hogger, otherwise the audience would rue it.

Greg (who’s performing with my bro) is a real funny (and another lame-ish guy). A guitar player who accidentally broke someone’s music stand @___@ and looks really out of place in both pieces he’s performing (Mission Impossible theme and an Xmas medley). Two words say it all, pink shirt. XD But for the christmas medley he blended in just nicely with the other little girls who were singing and performing. He calls it ‘getting in touch with his feminine side’. I’m….not saying anything. XP

Ooh my favourite has to be the Mission Impossible theme. XDXD Both the guitarists (apart from Greg – the emcee pronounced it as Georgery *laughs* too bad for you) were really really cooooooollll~~~ XD 本当かっこいです！meianne thinks the guy with the dreadlocks has too much of a boyish face to carry out that hairstyle, so she likes the other guitarist better. As for me, I like the dreadlocks. It’s way different and hey, he doesn’t look bad in them. Okay whaaaat… According to meianne, the keyboardist is a real talent. Rumour has it she’s a really good composer, and a magician with arranging group pieces. She can work wonders just listening to someone humming a tune a few times, then composing for each and every instrument needed. @___@ すごいです。 So I’m probably not surprised if she composed the arrangement itself. It was really really cool. And each member (the keyboardist and the 3 guitarists) had their own solo. I’d say the guitarist on the right has the best solo (not dreadlocks, not greg).

Saw shireen there too~ maan, the last time I saw her was at mrs dhillion’s tuition. She’s one of the SMKTTDI gang who sits at the last table (with me) for physics. Most memorable part has to be that each class is almost a picnic. Candies galore, always being passed around. You name it, it’s prolly gone a round at the table before~ restriction to candies sold around PJ area.

My performance was, well, okay… Couldn’t hear meianne’s part and kahyin played a few wrong notes, not really serious though, since there’s the backing to help hide the sound XP And sometimes I can’t hear the piano, I was thinking, “Heey, shouldn’t it be christine//kahyin playing?” Oh! My performance is a 5-piece playing a jazzed up version of ‘Over the Rainbow’;

Strings & guitar: meianne
Slap bass: sut

I think I wouldn’t survive playing the piano. So many chordie notes @__@ prolly can’t remember them all anyway. Brass and piano carry the main tune, although the piano sounds way nicer. XD All the same, I like my part. Backing music largely involves meianne, so its really empty-sounding without her part. And it’s not easy to move and play at the same ime, since the thought constantly running through your mind is “What’s the next set of notes?” or “Count the bars…don’t miss the cue…”

The night ended with a bang, with the teachers performing “Final Countdown” which was really energetic, even though its an old song. It was good~ XD another of those good pieces. I can see that each part had their own fun part. My bro apparently heard them practicing this piece. Hehehe~

Then the photo shoot. A sudden wave of flashing bright lights and faces frozen in a smile. Haha. That’s what I think of it anyway. A crowd of parents acting as paparazzi, and the performers like stars. Now isn’t it nice to have the five minutes of fame?
