coroborree 2005

Wow. Phew. That’s one maajor event over, and it rocked~ I’m home safe and sound while everyone’s still partying there, hope they’re having fun.

To start off, my first obstacle was my hair...I had no idea what to do with it, so I went online to do some last-minute research. It wasn't all that useful, but then again it wasn't all that useless. Improvision happens, and so I ended up with this. It wasn't all that bad, but my hair sure didn't stay that way throughout the night. Nevermind that.

I spent the better part of the afternoon trying out several styles I found on the net, none of them really working cause my hair was too short..*makes mental note to self: grow longer hair before next formal event*

My mom’s working, and my aunt’s pregnant, so I didn’t wanna trouble either of them. Although it would be nice to have them fussing over me~ it was so much more fun then, cause they were having fun dressing me up ^___^ I know as a kid I hated that, but hey, people change~ but since I had to make do without them, oh welll….next time I make them help me out XD nyakakaka

The dress wasn’t a big deal, since I used last year’s. Shoes I bought yesterday with help from eley and yy XD 本当ありがとう!2-inch cheatingness sure helps me look better in photos –muahahaha- I used earrings from akagami who gave it to me as a birthday pressie, mom’s shawl and my necklace. Simplistic but enough for this event~!

Reached at about 6, and then the confusion began. For starters, practically noone was there. Kenken, gay-chai and vincent were styling their hair at a salon (@___@ I mean guys?! I thought it was more of a girl thing, but anyway they looked good) and I don’t know where houhou was, rowe and mishan on the way here, kochou already there, and the rest…I have no idea.. Hung about (with korg who so kindly sent me there even though I know he’s dying to get back to his Smackdown game @ home – thanks soooo much!) until rowe reached subang, then us 3 (rowe, mishan and I) headed of to sunway. It was already 630pm, and boy the traffic was Bad with a capital B.

On top of that, I realized I didn’t bring my ticket.. of all things NOT to bring. It was on my board where I pin up all the junk. Just a good thing they place more emphasis on the StudentID for entry. And rowe was overreacting, but all for a good (and thankfully lost) cause~ ^__^

Rowe parked her car in Pyramid, and to get there, we practically walked right across Pyramid itself… @___@ It was embarassing getting all these looks people gave you, since you’re parading the place wearing full formal attire while they’re walking around in their casual clothing.

On reaching the hotel lobby, the first person I saw was yuanshe! XDXD She looks so cute, and mature and everything else! Definitely different in a sophisticated way. I suppose that’s what dressing up does to everyone. And kenken, vincent, gay-chai, houhou, kochou, kwokthye (hey, ex SAM Taylorians can enter with their ID, so no problems there) karen, melissa, winnie, sooguan, emm…@___@ too many to remember in exact order~ XP but everyone looked glamorous.

Kenken and houhou both wore red shirts, which was matching ^__^ talk about chemistry. Everyone’s hair was so nicely done up, especially liked the hairstyling on yeehua, chengyee, winnie, yuanshe, rowena, aaron (seriously man very cool, I liked it), kenken (he always looks good this way, as he usually doesn’t use gel/wax) and vincent (I think he trimmed his hair). Houhou, I’ll admit bob did a good attempt. Nonetheless, well, it was different from your usual hair. You shoulda stuck to that XP

Throughout the event, photo shoots occupied most of my (probably most of our) time. The food wasn’t anything to shout about, and since everyone was pretty much scattered there was a lot of nomadic activity (literally table hopping). Took quite a number of photos, but missed quite a number of people I would have liked to take photos with (like the edboard team) and some which I took with but the pictures turned out blurry (silly lighting kept on changing from bright to dark, making the photos look kinda funny)

Anyway. To kick start, they had the usual set of speeches and a slide presentation courtesy of kh (which was pretty good~) As each class photo appeared, the respective class cheered =D like some kind of football game~ XP

What came after that was even funner~ they had the teachers dance impromptu to Indian music. First up was Mr Lee, my spec math tuition teacher XDXD He was so sporting, getting at it like a guy on high! Loud cheers and applause ensued, and yeah, I was one of the crazy people cheering (how can one NOT support people for their sportingness?!) Notable ones include Mr Chong, Mr Yong, Mr Soong, and Mrs Chong (since I know these teachers by look XD and boy they were at it like real party animals, whoohoooo! Go Go Go!) Their dance partners made the performance even more enjoyable as on-the-spot teamwork sure shows up funny on stage~

Then there was the performance by Dissonance (ie where Denny and Vincent performed, Hengteng as guitarist). All of S9 + the PRs sat (yes, the guys crossed legged and the girls, well, just trying to sit) right in front of the stage (to show support and just for the heck of it) so naturally we cheered like crazy, and wow when yingzhen went up to give a rose to Denny that was so ( I couldn’t call it romantic, it wasn’t) umm… hot, in a word. ^__^ cause her bareback dress looked good on her XD and come on, it’s Denny~ then followed by kenken to vincent, houhou to hengteng (this one had to be the most gay hahaha, as is of houhou’s style) and one other guy to the other guitarist (XP so sorry for the lack of names)

There was this sudden frenzy that took all of S9 in a flash. Glasses up, and the scream of “YAAAAAAMMMMM~~~SENG!!!” filled the entire hall. We started a trend though, after that another class tried to beat us at our own game. Wahahhaa, pioneers rule, imitators drool~ Kinda felt bad for doing that, cause there was a performance going underway, and they practically stopped halfway. So the emcees had to shout to us to let them perform to the finish. It was a violin quartet, and yes, they were good, if only we actually sat down and listened to them properly. I felt bad for that. They were playing Pachabel’s Canon in D. After that though, (hehehe) we went over to the teacher’s table, starting with Mrs Angelene and Mrs Sue and drinking to her. Mrs Angelene was trying so hard to hide herself under the table as we were yelling XP but yeah, I’m sure she appreciated the gesture. Up next were the guy teachers (Mr Yap and Mr Chong) but they had no glasses to drink to. Who cares, we did it anyway (aren’t we such attention craving people?)

I think it definitely made Euric’s day when Farah (yes, the Malaysian Idol contestant in the flesh) came onstage. On top of that, she mentioned his name several times before she began (like “I’d like to thank Euric for inviting me here today…” and “This song, requested by Euric..”) I’m sure he’s in delirium right now XD way to go man~! She’s good, despite having a sore throat, and she definitely got the crowd to participate by getting them to go onstage and party on with her~ wow, now that’s entertainment.

The prom king and queen started the dance, with Emily’s rendition of Celine Dion’s ‘At Last’ which was absolutely breathtaking (She looked good, and her voice could match Farah’s, seriously) after that, everyone hit the dance floor and all the club hits came on, that being the ‘party time’ and everyone getting crazy~ XD

Someone started a human train going, and for the heck of it, our entire class joined, some outsiders, and just pure insanity streak. Now the guy in front had this brilliant idea to bring everyone on stage (which he did). After getting off, the deejay announced “Hey, no dancing on the stage please, I repeat, no dancing on the stage” which was very amusing to us (definitely not to him I suppose, I’m betting he didn’t expect anyone to do that XD) Like I said earlier, we just crave attention, intentionally or not. Siangsern can dance! It still amazes me~ And Weehoo and Shearen were so cute together~ =D kochou as usual was bodily attractive, I mean, she’s a good dancer ^__^ For the most part, dancing was fun in a huge group cause there was a lot of funny moves pulled out… Guys dancing like couples were very amusing (eg. Jerry and houhou, siangsern and howhuey) Even mrs angelene joined us XD she and hengteng had a short session together, vincent teaching yuanshe to slowdance to dance music, shearen and weehoo, denny, vincent… the usual clubbing people had their chance to show off. ^_^ vincent kept to his robot moves, and coupled with his facial expression it was funny, in a sense.

I guess my dress was too long. Everyone kept on stepping on it. XP Including myself. Aih. Not a good dress if you’re the type to keep table hopping, getting up, walking round, dancing silly, doing a mini cancan (haha this was actually kinda fun) and posing for photos. Perpetrators include kenken, yeehua, chengyee, sooguan and vincent. XP I think the most was kenken and yeehua, dunno why.. oh well.

@__@ fuuh. *looks up* what a long story to tell. How I wish the night would never end. But like Mrs Mary Ng says, our life is like a series of train rides; sometimes, we get on and off the train so quickly, and each time it becomes a part of our memory, happy or sad. I say bittersweet. There were both good and bad times, but my heart breaks to see us part. And yet I’m sure our class will get together someday sooner than we think, and have ever more gatherings =D

To S9, viva forever.
