On a lighter note, went to 1U today to watch Harry Potter – The Goblet of Fire with most of S9, the PR Kim and ai-chan. Met the K3-ers there, who were watching the same movie. And ganesh, becky and kengyew. Ai-chan couldn’t recognize kengyew until I casually mentioned to her. She gave me this shocked and amazed look and dragged me aside. “THAT’S Kengyew?!” Well for one, he sure looked different. Drastically. But I liked his coat, he’s got some good taste for ‘em ^___^
Went to Zara for abit to check out the jackets and coats (they have coats I drool at XD) and when I tried to take a picture of ai-chan in a white winter coat with fur fringes, they had to stop me for fear of intellectual theft. Okay, I understand, but still….*piffety* party poopers. XP It was soo cute, all she needed was a pair of white boots. Or just any matching pair of chun boots.
I knew the story, and all the supposed twists, so in noting that this cut-short version really cuts a lot gives it a hearty deal of minus points. It could use a lot more detail, which is provided in the book, but I guess it would be another movie with LOTR length, something kids don’t have the patience for.
SUPER SPOILER BEGIN
Some parts weren’t needed, like the introductory acrobatic stint, it was like introducing Hogwarts to a bandwagon of circus performers. Definitely not the right idea to project to your host when you are in fact supposed to be witches and wizards of poise and professionalism.
Viktor Krum was modeled after David Beckham, any blind sod could see that right through, and think it was a pretty silly thing to do. I definitely didn’t expect him to be so -old-. In the book he was quite lively, and talking in that funny fashion, but in the movie, he doesn’t talk much. I agree with ai-chan on this one, he’s quiet. I expected him to have a more bishie look, but I guess that was asking for too much.
If there’s another noteworthy minus point, it’s the cliched antagonist character. I mean, come on, why can’t the antagonist have any brains to not announce to the world his/her evil deeds? Must everything go on air? Sometimes discretion is the best, allowing the surprise to come when it should. $(%^*%) seriously, get some antagonist with brains. All inclusive with the evil laugh at the seemingly helpless protagonist, right up to the “NUOOOOOHHHH~~~” in the end when the devious plot is foiled. *rolls eyes*
Cedric was good looking, but man he was pretty useless as a side character. Just eye candy so that the audience wouldn’t sleep off during the boring bits. The only time I saw him properly was when he died. I was thinking, “Okay, he died the way I imagined it to be. That’s good.” Just that. It doesn’t matter to me if he’s eye candy or not since he’s like a walking robot, no real personality worth noting.
Harry and Ron are at it again, like a bunch of gays. I mean, Ron is bitching like a jealous girl because her guy didn’t let her in on the scoop. It got one step further, where they weren’t going to talk to each other, so they used Hermione as an owl (as she puts it). It was funny, seeing them break up and make up (I meant that literally) the way couples do. I can see now why they like to create the numerous yaoi fanfics on this. Oh well.
The rebirth of Voldemort was very cool. I mean after the part where Wormtail gets to do the hocuspocus. The cauldron kablooeyed, then there was this blob writhing and getting into shape(the actual body) but what was even cooler was the forming of his robes from the smoke from the kablooey. Very cool and wraithlike. Almost like a 死神. He looked like a tall Gollum with no hair. The very first thing Voldemort did after he regained his body was touch his head. I was just wondering, was he distraught at his lack of hair or what? And the half-face mask his Deatheaters wore were nice. Just too bad I didn’t get a good look at them.
The TriWizard Tournament was definitely too short. This part of the movie could definitely use more detail. And like ai-chan kept on saying, I wanna see how the others accomplished their tasks too. Harry got his done because he had a lot of help, but what bout the rest? It would be interesting to see how Cedric, Viktor or Fleur did it. I can see Fleur lost badly in this tournament, constantly being out of the challenges. And the final maze was very cool, that was good. Foggy, immensely huge and dangerous, just the way I like it. Hell yeah~~
SUPER SPOILER END
