aquaria

Today was fun, and tiring. XD Just one of the many ways a great day should be.

When I reached uni (our first meeting place – Jon would meet up with us at the station) I didn’t see anyone (at least not Calvin who was supposed to be there at about 7 in the morning, talk about crazy) so I figured someone should be in the lab… and here I find Calvin and Penny =D Too bad penpen didn’t join us.

Awhile later cw and ty found us in the lab and we decided to have a game of Yahoo! Graffiti which is… super fun.. and super funny XD we were all counting on ty to have lousy drawing skills (which he did, in fact) but guesswork wise cw and calvin were the better among us. The game’s pretty simple; you’re given a word, and the others have to guess what it is. The only way you can help them is via drawing (of course, you can write the word, but that wouldn’t be fun now would it?) I guess it got too addictive; by the time 10am came around we were still blissfully playing… until Jon called. Then we sped things up considerably and went on our way to the LRT station.

My (fine, so what if I’m the one driving it most often now..) trusty ol’ taufu car could support ti, mom, me and guama no problem @ the back (which is already a pretty tight squeeze as is) so I figured 5 regular-built people would be about the same. Of course going over the bumps gave quite a challenge since the bottom of my car easily hit the bump (it’s pretty low). It was funny to see them squashed at the back like a can of sardines, and cw was happily taking pictures of them. I guess these are the times I really appreciate being in the driver’s seat; no qualms bout getting squashed up and not having a place to sit. XD

The only thing that I really should have known and avoided like the plague was the carpark at the LRT station. It was a major, major mistake to try and even conceive the thought that there would be a parking space… hell, the place was infested with cars like junk in a junkyard (it practically looked like one of those used car parts junkyard), but nevermind with that – what’s done is done, and the tradeoff is considerably negligible. =D

The previous night I had requested for ty to NOT appear in shorts and slippers, and to my surprise he did comply XD and when Jon met us at the station, he gave me this dirty look saying, “Why didn’t you let me?!” and I practically fell over XPXPXP I wasn’t expecting that, but not like it mattered.

The ½ hour ride to KLCC was probably the noisiest the train’s regular commuters had ever experienced. What with cw continually exclaiming and Ben and Calvin continually laughing, we’re acting like a bunch of lunatics (as if we don’t on a regular basis anyway).

Had lunch in BK, and dad was acting cute today XD

me: hey dad I’m in KLCC having lunch now…
dad: hey! what about me?
me: wanna join up? we’re in Burger King.
how did u guess it’s my favorite? but still @ work, tq & enjoy!
me: XD ok then you enjoy your work and lunch too XD
dad: just enjoy the super cal’s
(no, Calvin, this is not in reference to you XP)

On reaching Aquaria, I noticed that they have different pricings for local residents and foreigners… I find it rather discriminatory; why should this kind of discrimination even exist? Trying to squeeze that extra bit out of tourists just because you think they have more to spend than we do? It’s pretty ridiculous.. but we didn’t have to bother cause we were students and regardless of the fact that zz isn’t a local resident, we all got the student price (which I find is still slightly pricey but, oh well, it was super fun and fascinating albeit the rather quick round we did)

The first exhibit was the petting pool (well there wasn’t much to pet apart from a mini-shark, some lobster-looking thingy with a clamshell-like shell, the third pool contained a lot of small fish that looked like anchovies which I think was hardly petting material) and… the most unexpected and yet expected happened!

yk got sabotaged for the 2nd time! Although it was unintentional, but you get the idea XDXD Ben was poking the lobstery thingy in the pool and the lobstery thingy reacted (not violently, I guess it was just surprised that something was poking its underside) so Ben got caught by surprise and on hastily removing his hand from the pool his dripping wet arm flung quite abit of water onto yk… To which yk yelled, “Bennnn! I damn hate you for this!” while I’m laughing at both of them.

Of course, the 一番へんな事 would be that in the midst of the oceanic creatures, you have… *drumroll* reptiles and the darker (not really in colour) creatures from the forests. My first reaction was to raise eyebrows at this… and go “What the…” for its so out-of-place placement. But the exhibits in themselves were pretty cool.

The things worth looking out for:

  • definitely the adorable puffer fish (although it didn’t puff up in our presence)
  • the gigantic turtley thingyyy @___@ I thought it was a huge stone.. until it started to swim to the top and ‘perform’ for us (meaning that it clung onto the stone like a lizard, then gently ‘float’ down to the bottom of the pool.. which I find rather optimistic in a sense that it looks like it’s flying.. see, even the big things can perform gracefully~)
  • the stingrays! they are so smiley~
  • also the snakes.. they are pretty freaky to look at, but noone can deny that they’re cool. Some of them seriously look like those rubber toy ones that people purposely buy to freak out other people. There’s one really thin green one that looked like it was going to attack us… X3
  • The millipede. It’s… HUGE! It looks like a mini version of pipes people install in buildings for air circulation or whatever… @_@ I thought it looked like it was made out of plastic, I wonder what it sounds like if it got squashed. *gets the shivers thinking about squashing something so huge >_<*
  • The badly animated Pixar fish. I call it this because the face really looks like something out of Finding Nemo. On top of which it’s oddly coloured; green with bluish lips that really resemble that fish in A Shark Tale. I don’t care if it’s not by Pixar, I love Pixar so that’s that. And the eyes are huge, and they resemble human eyes cause the eyeballs can move! Most fish eyes look like those you can find in One Piece animals (eg. Tony Tony Chopper)

Notice that most of it are creatures in macro. I swear, you can’t miss ‘em! It’s like looking for a volcano on an island from a helicopter.

The tunnel thingy was cool since you get to see the underside of the sea creatures, which is different. =D And since it’s U shaped the people on the other end of the tunnel look like they’re part of the scenery too, to which we would point and go, “Hey check out that fish!” while pointing at ty (for example, and that was while he was standing on the other side taking more photos of fishies)

We split up for abit to do some exploring..I followed cw to Perlini’s to help her buy birthday gifts. Whoah, I didn’t think it would take so long, but I had to admit it was amusing looking at her antics in choosing. “What should I get?” “What do you think of this?” “Aaahhh why is it so difficult to buy presents?!” I think it’s also at this point of time where I’m starting to feel really tired, I don’t know why either. Sleepy and my legs were starting to ache. Then we met up with ty and jon to head off to a camera shop (I think cw’s looking for one).. Since Jon and I are not that much of camera aficionados we hung around outside talking about Jon’s habits of hanging out for long (and I really mean it) periods in bookshops, and of the books we’ve read.

Another noisy 1/2 hour ride back to KJ LRT station… and off to a stuffy mamak since we were feeling pretty thirsty. ty’s pictures were quite nice, I saw my favourite silver fish (it’s actually pretty whitish with a tinge of blue and yellow) and the dory and the clownfish and all the pretty little fishies. He chose not to take the not-so-pretty ones maybe in fear of his camera lenses cracking.

All in all, I loved this trip XDXD

Whoah……. I feel….. really tired and my legs seriously ache! Crashing now, over and out.
