Singapore, Day 2

The day was all about relaxing.

Started off with breakfast of nasi lemak @ Changi Village, which was alright by standards, but I thought the otak-otak was abit ordinary.. I ate it cause I miss the taste of otak =P After which we headed to the seaside not too far from there which has a biking trail, heaps of rest pondoks along the way (very good for outings and such) and we pretty much spent the rest of the morning cycling and sitting at the mentioned pondoks. (Malay lesson, pondok = hut and the plural of pondok isn't pondoks but I.don't.care XD)

We rented bicycles, the rate was decent I guess.. $6 for 2 hours (but we only cycled for one, cause we decided that we had lazed around enough XD) So we biked the entire stretch, it's a short stretch really.. and it was pretty windy that day so that was a welcome breeze =3 Kinda made me miss cycling cause I used to speed around when I had a bike.

After spending the morning lazing around, we went to the Changi Museum.. its a war memorial in tribute to the POWs and the people who had to go through the Japanese occupation. The quilts that the women made were really pretty and had hidden meanings in them (apparently) and the stories really brought you back to what it must've been like then. Really miserable and terrifying.

Oh yes! This was a pretty interesting one for me.

The afternoon we spent at a beauty parlor at the Tampines Interchange to get a facial (Sharon & me, at least.. we were running short of time so Eileen had to postpone hers).

Gawd it's painful! It's like paying people to torture you for a half hour. Funnily though you get nicer skin and everything. So I guess it's a sort of tradeoff. Obviously curious as to the little gadgets and stuff she was using and the creams & liquids she was slathering all over my face.. I just had to ask lah what she was doing. Which warranted a reply of "Is this your first time doing this?" =P The extracting part of it was.. so torturous. @_______@ When she asked me to 'get some sleep' for about 10-15 mins.. all I could think of was "omgomgomg that hurt! wtf man what sleep am I supposed to get?!" Half the time when she was applying some stuff on my face and probably massaging it, I was struggling not to feel ticklish. @_@

Glad I survived to tell the tale! haha XD

We met up with Nick & Byron for dinner at some food court just behind a very aunty area.. a pity Dom was not in the condition to go with us for our planned trip to the Night Safari. So we took a bus there and reached at about 830ish? I think.

Ahh there are some parts that I still vaguely remembered about the safari the last time I went, especially the tram ride.. and omg what is with the fake accents these guide people put on?! makes it so hard to understand sometimes, and at a point of time I felt like laughing outright. However, they sound so much like a voice recording that Nick really thought it *was* a recording. Until the guide said "Please, no flash photography.." out of the blue.

Of all the animals in the safari, the one that really stood out was the leopard, the tiger and maybe the hippos. The ones closest to the tram that I've seen were the tapirs (eh it's Malaysian okay!) The tiger looked really annoyed, kept catwalking/roaming up and down right next to the window.. sorta looked ready to jump someone. And the leopard prints were really pretty, and nothing like the lala sort. I can see why people are inspired to use them in fashion, but I haven't seen alot of successes up that alley. And the hippos... they're just sitting there in the mud, really.. but I kinda liked them for some reason =P

Oh yes there were heaps of bats too, flying around eating fruit and all.. I don't know why, but the first thing that popped to mind was "Someone said that fruit bats taste better than carnivorous ones.." But I don't think I'm ready to eat a bat. @_@ They're kinda cool actually.

We were lucky that we managed to catch the Night Show of the safari... We thought we had missed the last show at 9:30PM but lucky us, it was a Friday, and they have an additional show at 10:30PM! So yay we were lucky XD It was REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY entertaining! I don't know how many times we laughed while we were there.. I really loved that show, and I'd take my hat off to the keepers if I wore one.

Had the first taste of Ben & Jerry's ice cream too.. which is GOOD! Come on, set up a branch here too! XP I think Sharon bought a cone with some chocolate fudge flavour. YUMMO!

Only headed back at about midnight, and by then we were pretty poofed out.. not to mention that we had a full day up ahead! XD
