Valentine's.

Happy Valentine's!
I used to wonder what was the origin of Valentine's.

By popular belief, it is an occasion for couples to declare their love for each other, a particularly special day for them. And there are the ones who say that it originates from a churchperson Saint Valentine. That's what I remembered anyway.

My personal favourite by far regarding this has to be a tale I read from some children's book...Let me go look it up.

(I just hope this isn't breaching copyright rules; I'll just tweak it abit.)

There was a daughter of a king who had lost the ability of speech since young, and so she was a sad and silent child, much to her parent's despair. The only thing that truly made her happy was to tend to the flowers in the royal garden.

One evening, she noticed a strange beautiful flower among the others that certainly wasn't there before. She did not wonder, but cared for it as she did the rest of the garden, in fact, even more. She would stand in front of it for hours, and court chamberlains who passed the garden thought that she was talking to the flower, as she often made hand gestures to the flower as you would when talking to a person. At first, no one paid heed to this strange occurence. As court rumors spread like wildfire, it wasn't until long for the king himself to believe his daughter to be bewitched by the flower. In his best interests to save her, he uprooted the flower and dashed it to the ground, in front of her daughter.

The princess was so shocked at this sudden turn of events that she recovered her voice. And at her voice, the flower changed into a prince.

"All I ever wanted was to be with her. So I asked a fairy to change me into a flower, with a voice that only she could hear, and in turn, was the only one that could hear her silent voice."

Such exclusive attention you can't get anywhere else, now can you?

Sometimes, don't you just feel...that love, is just meant for the pretty? Think about it. Whether you see it on TV, or in real life, the statement applies. Poor people who are not pretty. Something they would like to have, but cannot simply because of it. What would those people give just to experience it just once. They would probably die happier knowing they have loved and been loved before, and they would gladly rather go through it all over again rather than to be lonely. People just cannot survive alone. And because of this, love survives.

I recieved what I'd like to believe is a Valentine's present over the weekend. X3 thank you so much X3 As to who gave it to me~ hehehe, nosey parkers, you can go drown yourself in curiosity. As for those who DO know, you have blackmail material in your hands. And I have the means to silence you. **eevil grins**

hou, I'm so sorry, I can't think up any lovey-dovey storey right now, I'm just not a romance novelist. So I hope this makes the cut.
