here's to the night

that was the theme of prom DU '04. Let me recollect the events, here in bytes of letters;

My aunt+cousins+cousin's friend came over in the afternoon, and when she heard I had a prom later today, she was geared up. Dropped the cousins+cousin's friend at home, and drove to 1u. She brought me to buy accessories, and some basic makeup (thanks sooo muchh~ I owe you plenty XD~~) and in a record time of an hour, plus the time getting there and back. By the time I got back, mom was already home. Took a quick bath, then mom and my aunt proceeded to helping me with hair and makeup. ^_^ It was an interesting experience for me, knowing that I know just about zilch in this. XP They were more psyched than I am about the prom, and I guess it's just about right. Dad came home just as I finished dressing. Then *sigh* mom had to take pictures of me. So she did. I bet she enjoyed it plenty. Slipped on dress and shoes and I'm ready to go.

Arrived at Sheraton at about say...6.45pm. Saw Jianwen, James and Navin at the front entrance. My first thoughts were "Whoa. Jianwen dyed his hair. Looks different now. But he looks better~ and James still looks the same. No big deal. XP" Then saw reeis-kun, and anthea.. Then the stream of people trickling into the lobby was slow, but steady.

That was when the shutter frenzy began. I've never seen anything like it, and we were all acting like we're in school, talking at the tops of our voices. Try to remember that the venue is Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur. Even the staff there had to ask us to pipe down and stop blocking the main entrance. ^_^;;; Everyone dressed up real nicely.. Chailee's dress was rented, but it looked really nice. And Anthea's was simple but elegant. I didn't really see anyone that looked bad. It was impossible. And I was shocked; Waihang wore a bowtie. Shocking, but true. Even more surprising still: Kenming had on a bowtie [and] cumberband~ *whistles* I know that set costs a real bomb.

Ai-chan came a little while later, took some photos, chatted awhile, then proceeded to the ballroom. Not surprising to say, the crowd just grew larger there. Took more photos, talked and chatted more, wowed at each other's dress/suit. All the guys almost wore the same stuff, collared shirt and tie and coat and slacks, except for a few. Aaren had on leather jacket and leather pants, Praevin was in white. As well as Kenming and Waihang, as mentioned earlier. Upon exiting the elevator, however, I thought I heard Grace and Tingwei fiddling with the lift buttons;"Heyy! Stop pressing the buttons already!"

When the time came for us to enter the ballroom, I was awed. It was so cold that mist was forming right outside the ballroom itself, which probably meant the inside was even colder than the already air-conditioned outside. Cool. XD

The food was great~ I liked the soup, bread, main, dessert, just about everything.. And the entertainment. It kicked of with Sarah and Mahani singing, touring the entire room while performing. Then a jazz band, the runner-up of the Phillips Jazz Band Competition. I like jazz, so this was just right down my alley. XD I only recognized one piece though; "Fly me to the moon." Worthy of applause, and I liked the tunes played as well. After them were 2 local bands. Just one major flaw though; the background was way louder than the singer, so too bad vocals, you're drowned out. I liked the bgm anyway. I remember one of the band had a violinist and he's probably the most interesting character there. Aipeng says he was really cute, but I wouldn't know.

When the room got too cold, me and ai-chan exited the room, to get some warmth. brr, what the heck. I thought they'd be a teeny bit more considerate than lowering the temperature to torture the girls in sleeveless dresses. I don't know why, but even here the girls had to hang out in the toilet. Must be some school habit that just didn't get off them. geez. At first I had wanted to treat ai-chan to a dessert at Vila Daneli, but the place was closed by the time we got there. gomen ai-chan, next time.

Then the regular lucky draw, Best-dressed guy and girl, and Prom King and Prom Queen. Best dressed guy was some girl I didn't know, but best dressed guy was Aaren. hehe, the leather suit must've drawn more cheers. Prom King was Kenming, and Prom Queen was Penny. A fitting pair, if I say so myself. ^_^ They led the first slow dance of the night, and soon the others joined in. I think there were only 2-3 slow tunes. Soon, dance music dominated the floor and before you knew it, everyone was rocking to the beat. Melissa dances nice ^_^ I recall YK falling on Suewen, and Jianwen getting kicked in the face. Unlucky them.

Now I'd say the night was pretty successful, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't all that great for me.

Number one, due to the smokers and the loud headbanging music, I had this horrible headache that just seemed to grow worse as the night drew on. Number two, due to the loud headbanging music (as well) I was as deaf as a dingbat, and all forms of communication was severed unless I exited the room. Number three, I didn't wear my glasses, so I was as blind as a bat. I could just make out the silhouettes of people in the already dim-lit room. So I was really really glad when I arrived home and slumped off to sleep.
