luna park

I remember how happy I was at the mere fact that I’d be back in the City again! Well, St. Kilda is near enough.

“Oh my god, I love the City! The smog, the pollution, the smelly air! How I miss it! Heck it man, I’m transferring to the City next year~” – Farah, 2007

Well, my enthusiasm wasn’t that great, but you get the idea of how city kids react after living a little while in the country.

First up was a 2-hour ride to St. Kilda where there was a little night market and lots of fire eaters populating the streets entertaining the populace. If I’m not mistaken, there were about 4 of them scattered all over the place.

Walked around the night market for abit, thinking we could find some tidbits & snacks to smuggle into Luna Park. Sadly, this served as a reminder that this isn’t Malaysia where the pasar malams are filled with all sorts of food whether you like to eat them or not. Saw a lot of people walking their dogs, and I really loved that Alaskan husky cause it’s so huge and so furry and so cuddly! XD And probably also because there was a small irritating yappy dog not too far from it and I was half-hoping that it would get eaten by something/someone, not necessarily by the husky. The place sells a lot of trinkety stuff, lots of those star-shaped lamps (whatever they’re called), wind chimes, popcorn, fortune tellers, summer tube dresses that were some form of pirated batik (*rolls eyes* you can get that everywhere if you come to KL for less than half the price) and some other clothes and punkish jewelry which looked puke-worthy. The popcorn smelled good though, was tempted to buy but then I know the other girls would go ballistic; no prizes for guessing that they were pretty hungry to begin with.

Went to Subway for dinner since we figured McDonald’s was gonna be really full, heck there were people running to it the moment they got off the bus. (I think the other reason would be that we only had about an hour to eat.)

The entrance to Luna Park actually looks creepy. And why the heck is it a sun when luna obviously means ‘the moon’?!

I didn’t know it was a cross-campus event so I saw a lot of people that I didn’t expect to see! Like Siri, Jon and Emily! I haven’t been able to get in touch with Siri since I left Deakin a week ago, so it was really a stroke of good luck that we met! X3 Emily too, I met her while I was waiting for our turn at the dodgems (I think it was about 7 of us at a go; Wayne, Ken, Tina, Sharon, Eileen, Farah and me) and Jon is Siri’s neighbour who probably will remember me forever as ‘the girl who’s brushing her teeth on the day I moved into Deakin Hall’.

Now I used to be really freaked out about going on roller coasters and stuff, but I think I got over it after Disneyland Tokyo. So the rides here were pretty okay, no one actually threw up (at least not in our group, we heard that someone else did on the first ride we rode so thank goodness we were the first to ride it) First one we rode was ‘The Spider’ which would spin us round and round and upside down so it was like how those athletes swing the bullets before actually throwing it. Which was fun XD And the fact that it practically spun while upside down made it funner! XD I think we rode one of those pirate ship looking things that actually swing and stay upside down and that was.. XDXDXDXD I loved that one, it was probably the best of all. And the last one was the dodgems. Well it would have been more fun if we didn’t have to go only in one direction, how the hell are we supposed to hit anyone if we’re all moving in the same direction! Idiot.

I remember we had to keep skipping out on queues cause we didn’t have much time, queues were really long and we thought we’d best queue for the best only so we didn’t actually get to ride on much, but still… hahah seeing Eileen almost lose her voice from screaming on the first ride was funny cause we kept telling her that it’s only beginning. But you know girls, they can scream even if they think they don’t have any voice left.

So this marks my first amusement park in Melbourne (I think this is probably the only one since the other more famous ones are at the Gold Coast) but this good enough to last me for abit.
